ないものだろうか
(Why) can’t, Isn’t there, Wish that, If only
Structure
Explanation
When combined with a negative expression, the noun 物 followed by the particle か or the phrase だろうか expresses a strong desire for something to happen, particularly when it seems unlikely or beyond one's control. This pattern can be translated as 'if only (A)...' or 'I wish there was a way to (A)...'. Its literal meaning is close to 'Is it really something that cannot be (A)?', conveying the speaker's frustration with the circumstances.
This grammar is most often used with the negated form of a verb. However, it can also follow a noun where ない signifies that something 'does not exist,' rather than an inability to perform an action.

As shown in the examples, だろう can be replaced with its polite equivalent, でしょう, for more formal situations.
In casual speech, it is also common to see だろうか or でしょうか substituted with softer endings like かな or かしら.
