Explanation
様がない or 様もない is an expression used to state that there are no means or options available to perform an action. It is equivalent to saying 'there's no way of doing (A)', or that 'it is impossible to do (A)'.
This grammar pattern connects to the stem form of a verb.
- 財布をなくしてしまったので、家に帰りようがない。Since I lost my wallet, there is no way for me to get home.
- このカバンはボロボロで、直しようがない。This bag is totally worn out, so it's impossible to fix it.
- この気持ちは複雑すぎて、説明のしようがありません。This feeling is too complex; I have no way to explain it.
様がない often carries the nuance that the speaker wishes they could perform the action, but the circumstances make it impossible.
Caution
Since 様 is frequently written in hiragana, be careful not to confuse it with よう, the auxiliary verb used for the volitional form of verbs such as する.
