Explanation

For nouns and な-Adjectives, the past-tense form だっただけのことはある can be used to show that a present outcome is a natural result of a past state or quality.

Caution
It is important to remember that だけのことはある is reserved for positive evaluations. It cannot be used to express that a negative outcome was expected due to some negative quality.
