Although not strictly necessary, adding て to form ではなくて can create a smoother, more natural-sounding connection between the first and second parts of the sentence.

In more casual conversation, you can use じゃなく or じゃなくて. These are common alternatives for all grammar patterns that use でなく and ではなく.
