The grammar pattern ～は～の一つだ is used to state that a particular item is one example from a wider collection of things. The item being singled out (A) is followed by は, while the larger category (B) it belongs to is identified with の一つだ.
- アイフォンはスマートフォンのブランドの一つだ。The iPhone is one of many smartphone brands.
- 寿司は日本食の一つです。Sushi is one kind of Japanese food.
In this structure, 一つ acts as a general-purpose counter. You can replace it with a more specific counter whenever one is better suited for the noun being discussed.
- 彼女もこのクラスの生徒の一人だ。She is also one of the students in this class.
- プードルは犬の一種だ。Poodles are one type of dog.
- このペンはこの箱の一本だ。This pen is one from this box.
