Just like the verb て form, the て form for い-Adjectives and the で form for nouns and な-Adjectives act as a connector, similar to 'and' in English. This grammar allows you to describe something by listing several of its characteristics.

To conjugate an い-Adjective into this form, replace the final い with く and then attach て.

For nouns and な-Adjectives, you just need to add で directly to the word. Do not include な or だ.

• このレストランは安(やす)くておいしい。
  This restaurant is inexpensive and delicious.
• この公園(こうえん)は静(しず)かで広(ひろ)い。
  This park is quiet and spacious.
• 田中(たなか)さんは先生(せんせい)で作家(さっか)だ。
  Mr. Tanaka is a teacher and an author.

It's important to understand that て and で have distinct grammatical origins. The て used with い-Adjectives is the same conjunctive particle seen with verbs, highlighting their verb-like nature. In contrast, で is a conjugative form of the copula だ, related to the formal copula である, which you'll encounter in a later lesson.
